The research completed online between 1-8 February 2019; 2,061 people from Turkey representing the ABC1C2DE socio-economic segment, who have a lover or spouse, attended. Within the scope of the research, the participants were asked questions about their social media habits and the effect of social media on the relationship. The interesting results of the study are as follows:
Most of them see their lover for 2-4 hours a day
In the research conducted, the percentage of the participants was asked “How many minutes a day do you meet face to face with your lover or spouse”? 25 percent give the answer less than 2 hours, 34 percent 2-4 hours, 24 percent 5-7 hours, 10 percent 8-10 hours, 7 percent more than 11 hours.
The phone is in our hands
20 percent of respondents say they spend less than 2 hours a day with their smart devices, 41 percent say 2-4 hours, 25 percent They say that they spend 5-7 hours, 10 percent 8-10 hours, 4 percent more than 11 hours.
They talk for 30 minutes a day
When the participants were asked how many minutes a day they talked or texted on the phone with their lover or spouse, 14 percent said 0-5 minutes, 27 percent 6-10 min, 30 percent answer 11-30 minutes, 13 percent 31-60 minutes, and 16 percent over 1 hour.
Couples are uncomfortable with spending time on the phone
37 percent of them say they are uncomfortable spending time on the phone while their lover or spouse are together, 28 percent are not bothered, 35 percent He also states that they are sometimes uncomfortable.

There are those who ban the phone
According to the research, 35 percent of the participants restrict the use of the phone when they are together, while 65 percent do not interfere.
Almost half of the participants argue over the phone
45 percent of the participants say that they have an argument with their lover or spouse because they spend a lot of time on the phone, and 55 percent say they do not argue.
Passwords are common
58 percent of them say they share passwords for their social media accounts with their lover or spouse, while 42 percent say they do not.
17 percent of the participants say that they stalk their lover or spouse on social media, 19 percent say they do it sometimes, 64 percent say they don’t.
Introducing friends to lovers
When asked where they met their lover or spouse, 39 percent of the participants said they met through friends, 19 percent from school, 22 percent from work, and 22 percent from work. 11 of them state that they met through social media.
The majority of couples share the photo
66 percent of the participants state that they share their photo with their lover or spouse on social media, 34 percent do not.
21 percent of the participants stated that when they had a fight with their lover or spouse, they made posts on social media to spite them, while 79 percent said they did not.
